Run4NF Marathon

Run4NF in San Francisco

Join us on July 25, 2010 for the 2010 San Francisco Marathon. Run the scenic 26 mile marathon, or if you’re not a runner, there are two half-marathon races that are runner and walker friendly, as well as a family friendly 5k walk/run. Bring family and friends to cheer you on and make the day a fun family event while raising money for an important cause, while promoting awareness of NF.
 
Please register through the San Francisco Marathon site at www.runsfm.com. Once you have registered, contact Deb Hanlon at debbi@run4nf.org to let her know that you have registered and are going to Run4NF, or if you would like to volunteer to be a cheerleader for our marathon participants! Run4NF is a national, fundraising organization whose mission is to create a team of people who through challenges will boost NF public awareness as they fundraise for NF. Run4NF welcomes all willing to make a difference regardless of their athletic abilities. Requirements:  Desire to raise NF awareness. Hope to achieve a personal goal of any level. Open to making new friends that will last a lifetime.

How: Pick a race or walk event anywhere in the world. It can be one we are looking to do together or something in you area. You can choose to walk/run/bike/swim.

The Run4NF team and NF Inc. provide support, team shirts, and lots of fun. Our fundraising efforts help NF Inc continue their national efforts in bettering the lives of those affected by Neurofibromatosis. National Doodle Day

Mark you calendars for Thursday, May 13-23, 2010 As part of NF Awareness month, celebrity doodles are available for auction on eBay during May. These doodles have a very important aim: the funds they raise will benefit NF, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF).  Funds raised from the Doodle Day auction will go to support education, advocacy, coalitions, and research for treatments and a cure. Camp New Friends

Camp new friends
NF, Inc., in collaboration with Children’s National Medical Center, conducts Camp New Friends, a 7-day overnight camp for children and teens with NF.  The 2010 camp will be held July 18 - 24th.  Children 7 through 17 years of age, with NF1 or NF2, are encouraged to apply as campers. Those 18 or older may apply as Counselors or as Counselors-in-Training.
 
Camp New Friends is located in Massanetta Springs, Virginia near Harrisonburg in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The facility offers air-conditioned cabins, a spring-fed Olympic-sized pool, a lake, and lots of buildings and space for activities. A bus will be available to transport children from MD, and Angel Flight will provide air transportation for those who are outside the area. Also new this year is a pre-employment program for transitional youth.
 
To be eligible for scholarships and/or free transportation, campers must register by May 31st.
 
The camp registration fee of $750 is the same as last year. New this year: non-refundable deposit PRIOR to April 1 is $100; after April 1 is $150. The registration fee prior to June 1 is $650; after June 1 is $700. The application and release forms MUST accompany the registration fees. The absolute deadline for the application and documents is June 15, 2010.   Make sure all of your checks indicate that it is for CAMP NEW FRIENDS and with the camper’s name.
